Elephant - where the name comes from
Carl Jacobsen, the founder of Carlsberg Brewery and an inveterate
traveller in his day, was greatly struck by a fountain he saw in
Rome that was built on the backs of four majestic elephants.
Jacobsen was fascinated by architecture and symbolism and he decided,
once back in Denmark, to build an Elephant Gate at the entrance
to the brewery.
Elephant is a smooth, lager-type brew of intense taste and subtle
aromas, a giant among beers.
